Winton when it's cold and it's damp

IT's still dark, and the Fiat's Satellite Navigation doover has successfully directed me from my corner of Geelong, to Rod's place not far from the Geelong Cemetery. There's three of us going to the Winton Historic car race meeting in Rod's new Mazda. By the time we get to the Hume Highway, the horizon has turned pink, and at Winton - a bit after 10 o'clock - a screaming pack of vintage motor bikes is already out on the track, just as though everything is fine with the world and weather.

Tethercars rebirth in Seaford (Au)

On Sunday 22nd Feb a group of guys went down to the Frankston control line field to run some old style slow fun Tether cars. It all started when a guy in Geelong, Bill Hunter built 2 old style Tether cars for fun, he has been building them over the last 15 years, but needed somewhere to see them run. He contacted Ron Savage our speed chief timekeeper. Ron has been trying over the last 10 years to get a track in Victoria, there are tracks, one in Sydney and the other in Bribane at Tingalpa, site of the next MAAA nats, but the track in Sydney will not allow you to practice the day before, only allowing 30 minutes total practice for all interstate entrants. You get 3 runs then go home, no way to encourage entrants, it is ok for the Sydney guys they have a practice day 2 weeks before the monthly comps. Australia Day, Melbourne - 2015

As the popultion of Australia grows, its cities are booming. Immigration is astronomical. Old colonial attitudes are changing. A bright, sunny Australia Day in Melbourne 2015 drew cheerful crowds to the Kings Domain to admire the display of the motor cars that have been part of our history for over a hundred years. Motormarques spent the morning mingling with the crowds, and offers its own welcome to well-wishers all over ther world.
