Collingrove - 60 years young

Collingrove Hillclimb - Mt McKenzie, Sth Australia

October 6 & 7, 2012

The 60th annual Collingrove Hillclimb was rather like the great old motor racing events of the  1950s and 60s . Many of the cars  at Collingrove this year actually came from that period, looking and sounding as thrilling as ever.

The Hillclmb is in the Barossa Valley, not far from Adelaide. To get there you pass through rocky hills and magnificent vineyards for which the district is famous.

The climb is longish and steep, keeping the driver busy, from the first rise and the dip to the Wall that leads on to Contour straight, another steep rise before the esses and the top straight that lead to the finish line.

Some of the cars did have problems.  Some were 60 years old and more. You would have to admire them.

As a souvenir of the weekend, one could do no better than take home a bottle or so of the wine that has made the Barossa Valley famous.

Remember Collingrove.
