Wings and Wheels - Part 2

Written by
This is the second and last set of pictures of the Maryborough Wings and Wheels show.
This edition of MotorMarques is particularly interesting in that it carries articles on a major 'historic car' event in Europe, and a relatively minor similar event on the opposite side of the world.
Europe put on a display with great crowds, vast expenditure, and global media coverage. And at the same time, at the other end of the world, in a country town in Australia, an infinitely smaller "old car" event was taking place without any of the hullabaloo surrounding the contemporary European event, and attracting only a few scribblers to report it.
Old cars, pampered by their human caretakers, look and behave much the same as they always have. In castles and manor houses or in anonymous back-yard workshops. The blokes who look after old cars , however, need a constant supply of resources to keep their treasures forever new and full of fire.
Our love of historic cars may be some kind of sub-conscious envy.
It will probably always be so until our angel wings take us away from our contact with the ground.
