Lynx-Borgward

The popular Borgward Isabella was built from 1954 in various models with OHV 1493 cc four cylinder engines. Borgward also competed in sports car events with 1493 cc OHC cars. The small car ranges were built under the Lloyd and Goliath trademarks and when the Bremen Works finally disappeared these makes also became victims of the collapse.

The Lynx was formed by entrepreneurial engineers Chris-Keith Lucas and Guy Black, Lynx was originally involved in racing car preparation and classic car restoration. It then manufactured a remarkably faithful reproduction of the Jaguar D type, based on E type mechanicals and all built in-house. Available in short and long-nose forms and subsequently as an XKSS version, the Lynx D-Type led to bespoke conversions of other luxury cars such as the Jaguar XJ-S, available in convertible an estate forms. Ownership changed in 1992.
