The Friday was characterized by changeable weather. Not unusual for the Eifel region, but always a challenge for the teams and drivers – which tires to use and what will be the track conditions during free practice and qualification. The Saturday and Sunday gave much weather conditions. Saturday-morning some classes had their last qualifications and the first race started at 11.35 h. Vintage Meeting The vintage meeting starts in the historic paddock of the legendary Nordschleife with around 180 pre-war cars showing them to the visitors There were several Bugattis, Bentleys, Alfa Romeos, Jaguars, Lagondas, Rileys, Wolseleys and MGs. The owners could drive their car on the Grand Prix circuit and also enjoy the legendary Nordschleife.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             BOSS GP                                                                                                                                                                   The abbreviation BOSS stands for Big Open Single Seaters. The top classes from the international single-seater categories past and present will be competing in the races. Besides Formula 1 cars of the past, the BOSS GP racing series is also open to Formula 2, IndyCar, World Series by Renault, and A1 GP, among others. Thirteen of these fast and noisy single-seaters were competing at the Grand Prix circuit. German Ingo Gerstl won both races convincingly in his Toro Rosso STR1,                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Youngtimer Trophy                                                                                                                                                For more than three decades, the German Youngtimer Trophy stands for spectacular racing with touring cars from the 70s and 80s. What once started as an idea of dedicated enthusiasts has long since developed into one of Germany's largest historic racing series in terms of participants. At the Nürburgring there were two divisions with well-filled starting grids. Youngtimer Trophy 1 showed several well-tuned Opel Kadetts Coupé, Volkswagen Golfs and Scirocco’s, BMW 2002s and Ford Escorts RS1600 and RS2000. In race 1 Sebastian Glaser (Ford Escort RS1800) took the lead but fastest driver during qualification Sven Fish in the Opel Kadett C Coupé (2.4 ltr. engine) took the lead when the Escort RS1800 had a major mechanical failure. Sven Fish also won race 2 on Sunday as his major opponent Glaser wasn’t able to have his Escort repaired for the race. In the other Youngtimer Trophy thirty-five cars filled the starting grid of which 12 Porsches and 15 BMWs. Race 1 was won by Daniel Schrey in the yellow Porsche 935K1. Race 2 on Sunday another Porsche won the race, the 911 RSR driven by Michael Funke.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Single seaters                                                                                                                                                Single-seater racing cars were well represented at this event. Oldest single-seaters were the cars competing in the Lurani Trophy, the so-called Formula Junior cars. These cars represent an uncompromising, purist approach to historic formula racing. Eighteen cars started in two 25 minutes races. Two drivers battled constantly for the lead in both races, Manfredo Rossi di Montelera and Clive Richard both in a Lotus 22. Clive Richard won by 3.4 seconds in race 1 and 0.28 seconds in race 2 from Manfredo. The Historic F3 1000cc European Trophy was born in 2001 and it’s open to every F3 1000cc "screamer" built between January 1964 and December 1970. All 21 cars present at this event are painstakingly reconstructed to their original specifications. Peter de la Roche from the UK won both races effortlessly in the Alexis Mk.17 The Historic Monoposto Racing class showed an impressive starting grid of 43 cars. There were Formula Fords 1600 and 2000 and even three Formula 3 cars. During this weekend two 20-minutes races were held, first race was won by Dutchman Leon den Hollander in a Van Diemen RF83. Briton Graham Fennymore won race 2 in a 1981 Reynard SF81.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Historic Championship '65 and '81                                                                                                                    Step back in time to an era of beautiful cars like the Austin Healey, Jaguar E-Type, Mini Coopers, Porsche 911, Shelby Cobra and many more during the races of Historic Championship ’65. On Saturday twenty-six cars started a 30-minutes race. Oliver Hartmann (Elva MK 8) won this race, Georg Hallau crossed the finish line 1 second later in a Lotus 23B. In the second race on Sunday above mentioned drivers finished again in the same order. The fascination of the 80s returned in a 90-minute race of the Historic Championship ’81, which started at 20.00 h. As the sun disappeared behind the hills and the engines roared to life, spectators experienced thrilling motorsport with Porsches 911, Alfa Romeo 1750 GTAm, Chevron B6, NSU TT and a stunning BMW 3.0 CSL. This BMW driven by the team Sebastian Glaser and Michael Kammermann started from pole position and kept the lead until the chequered flag fell. In second place finished Andre Kunkel and Michael Funke in a Porsche 911 3.0 RSR.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Touring Cars from the Golden Era                                                                                                                  It’s the fifth time that the race of the touring cars from the golden era is held at the Nürburgring Classic weekend. The high attractiveness of this race series is due to the well-known vehicles from the active years of the touring car racing in Germany from 1984 until 1995. Formerly competing for prominent and well-known racing teams and works teams, the vehicles are now all in collectors' hands and are extensively maintained and "ready to race". Forty cars were competing in two races of which many BMW 3-series and M3s but also a De Tomaso Pantera and Dallara Fiat X1/9. Danish veteran Kris Nissen showed his skills in the BMW E30 M3 and won both races.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Battle of the Dwarfs                                                                                                                                              The competition-series “Battle of the Dwarfs” was founded In 2013, and consists of four race series for small cars: Abarth Coppa Mille, British Car Trophy, NSU TT Trophy and the 1300 Histo Cup. In the Abarth Coppa Mille cars are primarily Fiat Abarth 1000 TCs and Autobianchi’s A112 entered. In the British Car Trophy, the Mini Cooper is the preferred vehicle but there’s also an Hillman Imp! The NSU TT Trophy is for the model 1200 TT. The 1300 Histo-Cup is home to classic touring cars such as the Fiat 127 and 128, Simca Rallye or the Simca 1200 S Coupé. One of the fastest drivers was missed during the weekend, Hans März in his Simca 1200 S Coupé. Both races were dominated by two highly modified Mini Coopers driven by Gregor Nick and Herbert Wein Jr. Gregor Nick took the chequered flag in race 1 and Herbert Wein managed to win race 1.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                The "Nürburgring Classic" was launched in 2017 when the Nürburgring Nordschleife celebrated its 90th birthday. In 2018, just over 20,000 enthusiastic visitors attended the second edition of this historic motorsport meeting.
