ADAC Eifelrace um den Jan-Wellem-Pokal Nürburgring 8-10 June 2012

About 18,000 visitors enjoyed three days of historic motor sport at the Nürburgring Grand Prix track and the 22 kilometres Nordschleife. Whether on two, three or four wheels, the 26th edition of this event offered an entertaining program about a century of automotive fascination. One of the highlights was the largest ever meeting of the Veritas sportscars and their owners in the renovated old pits square.

One of the finest of the few that remained in Africa - a 1951 Mk5 -has now come to Australia courtesy of Derry Greeneklee who has bought it from Richard Baker of Johannesburg.As well as news about the Mk 5 Cooper, the current issue contains Graham Howard's fascinating article and photos of 'Sydney's Pioneering Hooper 500' This car appeared in January 1948 at Hawkesbury Hillclimb.  It was not quite the first Australian built 500. But it was the first "real 500" in that it was the first East Coast car to use purpose built chassis and suspension unlike the naive, almost clumsy cars which had appeared earlier.
