These little microcars were quite popular in the early post war period when basic transport was all that most Germans could afford.  Designed by Paul Kleinschnittger they had a small 125 cc single cylinder engine which drove the front wheels.

The open body had 2 seats and basic weather protection.  As there were no taxation restrictions as in the UK they had 4 wheels.

About 3,000 were built and they were also sold in Belgium as the Kleinstwagen. 

 

A few have survived and this one was seen in Germany in 2002.
