LAMMAS-GRAHAM

Lammas-Graham Limited. Sunbury-on-Thames, Middlesex.

1936 to 1938

This attractive, but relatively expensive at around £650 depending on specification, hybrid was based on the 1936 American Graham chassis.  It had the later 6 cylinder supercharged Graham engine with aluminium cylinder head which developed a respectable 128 bhp.  By 1936 Graham were struggling to survive and had already discontinued the 8 cylinder cars and had applied the centrifugal supercharger to their 3562 cc engines.

No doubt, in an attempt to increase sales, there was an attractive deal for aspiring UK motor manufacturers such as Allard, Brough and Railton.  The chassis was modestly improved with the addition of Luvax shock absorbers and 12 volt electrics.

Lammas-Graham did not build their own bodies but there were three body styles available.  A saloon  by Carlton, a drophead coupe by Abbott and a sports tourer from Bertelli.

They competed for sales in the same category as the 3 ½ litre SS Jaguar but being more expensive were not a financial or sales success.  As a result only about 30 cars found customers.

The photo of the drophead coupe is from the Geoffrey Last archive.

It is not known whether any examples of this attractive car survive.
