1930 Bentley Speed Six

The Bentley Speed Six was produced in 1929 and 1930 and was responsible for Bentley’s last two wins at Le Mans in those years.

The engine was 6,600 cc capacity, overhead cam, 4 valves/twin plugs per cylinder and much of it was manufactured in magnesium electron.

In 1930, the car exceeded 130 mph at Le Mans and was one of the great 'supercars' of its era.

It has been extensively and successfully driven in rallies, hill climbs, sprints and a variety of competitive events including the Targa Tasmania and Classic Adelaide.

In addition, it has toured Australia including Western Australia and the Centre.

The Speed Six will do the standing quarter in 17 seconds and has been timed at 112 mph in a closed road rally 'two up'.

The Bentley Speed Six has a four speed crash box, is fitted with mechanical brakes and weighs in at about two tonnes.

The Speed Six was nominated by W.O. Bentley as his favourite model and approximately 182 were built.

This car - LR 2786 - started life in Birmingham as a Salmon & Sons Tickford saloon, was rebodied in 1973 as a VDP Le Mans tourer and came to Australia in 1975.

The Bentley Speed Six is owned and driven by Barry Batagol who is based in Melbourne - phone business 03 8663 7555 mobile 0418 396 281
