Grand Prix de Tours One of the year’s great events for Classic Cars has somehow escaped the mainstream press down under. I refer to the 5th running of the Grand Prix de Tours, held during June, 2006.
Tours is the capital city of the Indre-et-Loire département, on the lower reaches of the river Loire, between Orléans and the Atlantic coast. Touraine, the region around Tours, is known for its wines and for the perfection of its local spoken French. It is also the site of the cycling race Paris-Tours. J-P Bush alerted me to the fact that this significant event had been passed over by Motormarques. I promptly wrote to Gérard Gaud, in less than perfect French, as follows: Bonjour messieurs, Je viens de recevoir d’un ami français de très belles photos du Grand Prix de Tours. Je suis coordinateur d’un website : http://www.motormarquesd.com. Je m’intéresse dans l’évènement à Tours, et j’ai demandé à mon ami en France de m’en envoyer des images – ce qu’il a fait. Il les a trouvées sur http://www.gtdreams.com/_GP_Tours2006/index.php?album=GP_Tours2006 Je vois bien que ce sont vos photos, et je vous demande permission de les poster sur mon site, avec, naturellement, crédit référence à vous (et votre site) comme auteur et possesseur de toutes droites. J’ai un grand nombre de visiteurs à mon site qui sinon francophones sont très intéressés dans les affaires de voitures de collection françaises.
